Lengthy autograph letter to a philanthropist (R. Yehoshua Yair), requesting urgent financial assistance for a family member who had fallen on difficult times.
R. Aryeh Leibish Horowitz (1847-1908), was a son of R. Yitzchok HaLevi Horowitz, Rav of Utiniya, Zurubna and Stanislav (author of Toldos Yitzchok and Me’ah Shearim). Known from a young age as prodigious Illui, he learned under his grandfather R. Meshulam Yissachar Horowitz and received Semicha from the Sho’el U’Maishiv and the Divrei Chaim. He served as Rav in Zlazitz, Sitri and from 1904, he succeeded his father as Rav of Stanislav, where he founded a prestigious Yeshiva. He was renowned throughout Galicia as a tremendous Talmid Chochom and Tzaddik and responded to Halachic queries from far and wide. Author of Harei Besamim.

מכתב אוטוגרפי ארוך לנדבן (ר’ יהושע יאיר) לבקש עזרה כלכלית דחופה לקרוב משפחה שנקלע לקשיים.
ר’ אריה לייביש הורוויץ (תר”ז-תרס”ח 1847-1908) היה בנו של ר’ יצחק הלוי הורוויץ, רב הערים אוטיניה, זורובנה וסטניסלב (מחבר “תולדות יצחק” ו”מאה שערים”). הוא נודע מגיל צעיר כעילוי עצום, למד אצל סבו ר’ משולם יששכר הורוויץ וקיבל סמיכה מה”שואל ומשיב” וה”דברי חיים”. הוא שימש כרב בזלזיץ ובסיטרי. בשנת תרס”ד (1904) הוא ירש את מקום אביו כרבה של סטניסלב והקים במקום ישיבה חשובה. הוא נודע ברחבי גליציה כתלמיד חכם וצדיק עצום והשיב לשאלות הלכתיות שנשלחו אליו ממרחקים. מחבר ספר “הרי בשמים”.
