Autograph memo by R. Aaron Kotler to R. Chaim Ozer Grodzensky. R. Aaron writes that there is a convention of the Agudas Ha’Rabonim in America soon and it is urgent to protest the activities of the Jewish Federation, who are attempting to prevent Torah institutions in Europe from receiving funds from the centralized fundraising in the United States. “Please notify R. Chaim Ozer that the Agudas Ha’Rabonim convention in America will be taking place soon… it is imperative that they receive a protest in his name and in the name of all the Yeshivos against the Federations…” Later in the letter, R. Aaron discusses the Shechita Decree (at that time, R. Chaim Ozer was leading an international battle against anti-Semitic parties in the Polish parliament, who tried to outlaw shechita): “What is being done now about shechita? The newspapers reported that the law will be proposed in the Sejm on the 11th of the month. It is crucial that a delegation of Torah leaders appears immediately before the government, which is preferable to lobbying”.
R. Aaron Kotler (1892-1963), was renowned from a young age for his brilliant mind coupled with his great diligence. He served as Rosh Yeshiva in Slutzk and Kletsk and established Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, N.J., which today is one of the largest and most prestigious Yeshivos. Known as the pre-eminent Rosh Yeshiva and Torah leader of his generation he was pivotal in the reestablishment of Yeshivos after the Holocaust.

מסר אוטוגרפי מר’ אהרן קוטלר לר’ חיים עוזר גרודז’ינסקי. ר’ אהרן כותב שוועידת אגודת הרבנים באמריקה תתקיים בימים הקרובים ויש צורך דחוף להתנגד לפעילויות הפדרציה היהודית, המנסה למנוע ממוסדות תורניים באירופה לקבל כספים מגיוס הכספים המרכזי בארצות הברית.” נא למסור למרן הגרח”ע שליט”א כי בימים אלו תתקיים הקאנווענשאן הועידה השנתית של אגוה”ר באמריקה… שנחוץ מאד שתתקבל אצלם מחאה בשם מרן ובשם כל הישיבות נגד הפעדעריישאנס…” בהמשך המכתב מדובר על גזירת השחיטה [באותה תקופה עמד הגרח”ע בראש המאבק העולמי נגד החוגים האנטישמיים בפרלמנט הפולני, שניסו לאסור בחוק את השחיטה הכשרה: “מה עושים עכשיו בדבר השחיטה? בעתונים כתבו שיעמידו ביום אחד עשר לחודש זה בסינט ח”ו. מוכרח הדבר שתתיצב ]משלחת[ של גדולי הדור דוקא לפני הממשלה תיכף, וזה טוב יותר מהשתדלות הצירים. ירחם ה’ על פליטת עמו במהרה. מו”מ אהרן קטלר”.
ר’ אהרן קוטלר, (תרנ”ב – תשכ”ג, 1892-1963), התפרסם כבר בגיל צעיר בשל מוחו המבריק יחד עם שקידתו והתמדתו העצומה. הוא כיהן כראש ישיבה בסלוצק ובקלעצק, וייסד את ישיבת “בית מדרש גבוה” בלייקווד, ניו ג’רזי. כיום, זוהי אחת הישיבות הגדולות והנחשבות ביותר. הוא ידוע כראש הישיבה וכמנהיג הדגול ביותר בדורו, והיה ממקימי עולם הישיבות מחדש אחרי השואה.
