Signed letter by R. Aaron Kotler to R. Eliyahu Schwartz, Rav of the Young Israel of Bensonhurst and Menahel of Yeshivas Toras Emes (Kaminetz). R. Aaron thanks him for an appeal made in the Pine View Hotel on behalf of the Yeshiva and requests that he make an additional appeal at the Young Israel of Bensonhurst as the Yeshiva is in difficult financial straits. Lot includes two telegrams (dated 1959), one sent by R. Aaron Kotler and the other by R. Yitzchok Hutner, wishing Mazel Tov to Rabbi and Mrs. Schwartz upon the birth of a son.
Additionally, lot includes a signed letter from Mayor Ed Koch and a signed letter from Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan. The variety of this correspondence demonstrates the esteem in which Rabbi Schwartz was held, both by Gedolei Torah and by L’Havdil influential politicians.
R. Aaron Kotler (1892-1963), was renowned from a young age for his brilliant mind coupled with his great diligence. He served as Rosh Yeshiva in Slutzk and Kletsk and subsequently established Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, N.J., which today is one of the largest and most prestigious Yeshivos in the world. Known as the pre-eminent Rosh Yeshiva and Torah leader of his generation he was pivotal in the re-establishment of Yeshivos after the Holocaust.

מכתב חתום מאת ר’ אהרון קוטלר אל הרב אליהו שוורץ, רבה של קהילת ישראל הצעיר בבנסונהרסט ומנהל ישיבת תורת אמת (קמניץ). ר’ אהרון מודה לו על ההתרמה שנעשתה במלון “פיין ויו” לטובת הישיבה, ומבקש שיערוך התרמה נוספת בקהילת ישראל הצעיר בבנסונהרסט שכן הישיבה מצויה במצב כלכלי קשה. כולל 2 טלגרמות (מתוארכות לשנת תשי”ט (1959)), האחת מאת ר’ אהרון קוטלר, והשנייה מאת ר’ יצחק הוטנר בהן הם מאחלים “מזל טוב” לרב ולגברת שוורץ לרגל הולדת הבן.
כולל גם מכתב חתום מראש העיר אד קוך ומכתב מהסנאטור דניאל פטריק מויניהאן. מגוון האישים בהתכתבות זו ממחיש את ההערכה שבה הוחזק הרב שוורץ, הן על ידי גדולי תורה והן, להבדיל, על ידי פוליטיקאים בעלי השפעה.
ר’ אהרון קוטלר (תרנ”ב – תשכ”ג, 1892-1963), נודע כבר מגיל צעיר במוחו הגאוני ובשקידתו העצומה. הוא כיהן כראש ישיבה בסלוצק ובקלעצק ולאחר מכן הקים את בית מדרש גבוה בלייקווד, ניו ג’רסי , שהיא כיום אחת הישיבות הגדולות והיוקרתיות בעולם. כראש ישיבה דגול ומנהיג התורה של דורו, הוא היה גורם מכריע בהקמת עולם הישיבות מחדש לאחר השואה.
