On both sides of the flyleaf and continuing on to both sides of the endpaper is a lengthy novellum written by R. Yosef Burstein of Torah heard from his brother R. Yitzchok Burstein.
R. Yitzchok Burstein (1869-1943) served as Rav in Pontanitza (near Lomza) and later in Ostrilanka. Known as renowned Talmid Chochom, he was murdered during The Holocaust. This is likely one of the only remnants of his vast scholarship.

ר’ יצחק בורשטיין (תרכ”ט-תש”ג, 1869-1943) כיהן כרב בפונטניצה (הסמוכה ללומז’א) ואחריה באוטסרילנקה. נודע כתלמיד חכם עצום. נרצח בימי השואה. מסתבר כי זהו אחד השרידים הבודדים מתורתו העצומה.
