Pesach Haggadah, based on the customs of the Vilna Gaon, with the Zerah Gad commentary of R. Tzvi Hirsch ben Tanchum of Horodna.
This Haggadah is among the most heavily censored Hagaddas ever published. For example, in “Keha Lachma Anya” the traditional text has been altered to read “Now we are slaves “Beduchtin Tuva” (in good places)… next year we should be free “Kebe’arah Didan” (as in our country). Additionally, the entire section of “Sh’foch Chamoscha” (Cast your wrath upon the nations…) has been removed. This provides a small example of the fear publishers had, of antagonizing the despised Russian Tsar.

הגדה זו, הינה מההגדות המצונזרות ביותר שהודפסו. לדוגמא, בקטע “כהא לחמא עניא” הטקסט המסורתי הפך להיות “השתא עבדי ‘בדוכטין טובא’ (השנה אנו עבדים במקומות טובים)… לשנה הבאה בני חורין ‘כבארעא דידאן’ (כבארץ שלנו)”. למרבה הפלא, הקטע “שפוך חמתך” הושמט בשלמותו. צנזור זה מהווה דוגמא קטנה לפחד הנורא שחשו המדפיסים מאימת הצאר הרוסי השנוי.
