Long autograph polemic letter (seemingly the second part of the letter only) regarding the controversial publication of the novella of R. Yehoshua Leib Diskin. He writes that he is rescinding any endorsements of the project as the publication goes against the wishes of R. Yehoshua Leib’s family, including his only son. Famously, the publication of the sefer continued regardless and it includes the approbation of the Aderes despite the fact that he retracted his approbation.
R. Eliyahu Dovid Rabinowitz Thumim (1845-1905), was a known as a child prodigy. He was appointed at a very young age as Rav of Ponevezh and later served as the Rav of Mir. In 1902 he was called by R. Shmuel Salant, the aged Rav of Yerusholayim to succeed him as Rav. Shortly after accepting the position he passed away at the age of sixty. He was eulogized by the aged R. Shmuel Salant who was then in his nineties. Father in law of R. Avrohom Yitzchak Ha’Cohen Kook.

מכתב פולמוסי אוטוגרפי נדיר (כנראה רק החלק השני של המכתב) בעניין ההוצאה השנויה במחלוקת של חידושי ר’ יהושע לייב דיסקין לאור. הוא כותב כי הוא הוא מבטל כל הסכמה שנתן לעניין שכן הוא נוגד את רצון משפחתו של ר’ יהושע לייב, לרבות בנו היחיד. כידוע, הדפסת הספר נמשכה למרות ההתנגדות, ואף הסכמת האדרת מופיעה בו על אף שחזר בו מהסכמתו.
ר’ אליהו דוד אדרת רבינוביץ תאומים (תר”ה- תרס”ה, 1845-1905), נודע כבר מילדותו כעילוי עצום. בגיל צעיר מאוד נתמנה לרבה של פונבז’, ולימים כיהן כרבה של מיר. בשנת תרס”ב 1902 קרא לו ר’ שמואל סלנט, רבה המבוגר של ירושלים, לבוא ולכהן תחתיו. תקופה קצרה אחר שנענה להצעה נפטר כשהוא בן שישים. ר’ שמואל סלנט, אז בשנות התשעים לחייו, הספידו. חמיו של ר’ אברהם יצחק הכהן קוק.
