Historic autograph letter by R. Nochum Partzovitz to R. Y. M. Leizerson of New York. After wishing R. Leizerson a Mazel Tov and adding warm brochos, R. Nochum gives an update on his illness before requesting that “when you visit K’vod Kedushas Admor M’Lubavitch Shlita, please mention Nochum ben Keysha for a complete recovery”. Following that he goes into a brief Talmudic discussion and ends with warm blessings.
R. Nochum Partzovitz (1923-1986), was born in Trok and was one of the most prominent students of both R. Boruch Ber Leibowitz, R. Elchonon Wasserman and of Yeshivas Mir. During the war he travelled with the Mir Yeshiva to Shanghai. In 1951, he married the daughter of the Mirrer Rosh Yeshiva R. Chaim Shmuelevitz. In 1952, he was appointed as a Rosh Yeshiva, a position in which he served until his passing. He taught thousands of students and was one of the most prominent Roshei Yeshiva of his time. He was succeeded by his son-in-law, the renowned R. Osher Arieli.

מכתב אוטוגרפי שכתב ר’ נחום פרצוביץ לר’ י. מ. לייזרסון מניו יורק. אחר שהוא מאחל לר’ לייזרסון מזל טוב וברכות לבביות, מעדכן הר’ פרצוביץ אודות פרטי מחלתו ומבקש” כשיבקר אצל כ”ק אדמו”ר שליט”א מליובאוויטש יזכיר נא את נחום בן קישא לרפואה שלימה”. אחר כך הוא עובר לכתוב על עניין לימודי קצר, וחותם בברכות חמות.
ר’ נחום פרצוביץ (תרפ”ג – תשמ”ו, 1923-1986), נולד בטרוק והיה מתלמידיהם החשובים של ר’ ברוך בער ליבוביץ ור’ אלחנן ווסרמן וממצויני תלמידי ישיבת מיר. בתקופת מלחמת העולם גלה עם הישיבה לשנחאי. בשנת תשי”א (1951), נישא לבתו של ראש הישיבה, ר’ חיים שמואלביץ. בשנת תשי”ב (1952), מונה לראש הישיבה, תפקיד בו שימש עד פטירתו. הוא לימד אלפי תלמידים, והיה ממגידי השיעור הבולטים ביותר בתקופתו. את מקומו ירש חתנו המפורסם, ר’ אשר אריאלי.
