Warm autograph postcard by the famed R. Meir Simcha of Dvinsk to R. Moshe Rosen, wishing him blessings for the New Year, with mention of R. Meir Simcha’s son-in-law R. Avrohom Lupiter, author of the Zera Avrohom.
R. Meir Simcha Ha’Cohen (1843-1926), was born in Butrimonys, Lithuania and after his marriage settled in Bialystok where he studied in the local shul for many years developing into a phenomenal Talmid Chochom. He then accepted an invitation to be the Rav of the Misnagdim in the city of Dvinsk alongside R. Yosef Rosen (Rogatchover Gaon), who was the Rav of the Chasidim. He wrote his classic commentary to the Torah when he was but 18 years old, although it was not published until after his death in 1926. Author of the classic Ohr Sameach on the Rambam.
R. Moshe Rosen (1871-1956) was one of the most distinguished Talmudic scholars in the United States. As a young rabbi in Lithuania he studied with the Chazon Ish and after emigrating to the U.S.A he became a Rav in Brownsville. He authored the multi-volume Nezer HaKodesh on the difficult Talmudic order of Kodshim as well as a volume of responsa entitled She’ailos Moshe.

ר’ מאיר שמחה הכהן (תר”ג-תרפ”ו 1843-1926) נולד בבוטרימוניס, ליטא ולאחר נישואיו השתקע בביאליסטוק שם למד משך שנים רבות בבית הכנסת המקומי וצמח לתלמיד חכם עצום. לאחר מכן הוא נענה להצעה לכהן כרב קהילת ה’מתנגדים’ בעיר דווינסק לצד ר’ יוסף ראזין (“הגאון מרוגצ’וב “) שהיה רב קהילת החסידים. הוא כתב את ספרו משך חכמה בהיותו בן 18 שנים בלבד, אם כי הספר לא הודפס עד לאחר פטירתו בשנת תרפ”ו (1926).
ר’ משה רוזן (תרל”א-תשט”ז 1871-1956) היה מתלמידי החכמים המפורסמים בארצות הברית. כרב צעיר בליטא למד עם ה”חזון איש” ולאחר שהיגר לארצות הברית כיהן כרב בברונסוייל. מחבר ספר “נזר הקודש” על סדר קדשים וכן שו”ת בשם “שאלות משה”.
