R. Eliyahu HaLevi Feinstein known as R. Elya Pruzhana (1843-1929), was born in Slutzk to R. Aaron, who later became Rav in Strobin. He was famous as an Illui and at the age of 6, R. Yossele Slutzker (Feimer) predicted that he will be a future Gadol HaDor. From the age of 15 he learned in the Volozhin Yeshiva where he developed into a prodigious Talmid Chochom. In 1863, upon the passing of his father, he succeeded him as Rav of Strobin at the young age of 21. In 1879, he went to serve as Rav in Chaslovitch and in 1884 as Rav in Pruzhan, where he served for 45 years until his passing. He was the mechutan of R. Chaim Brisker (father-in-law of R. Moshe Soloveitchik) and was actively involved in the education of his grandson R. Yosef Dov Soloveitchik of Boston. He was also a brother-in-law of R. Dovid Feinstein, father of R. Moshe.

ר’ אליהו הלוי פיינשטיין המכונה ר’ אליה פרוז’ינער (תר”ג – תרפ”ט, 1843-1929), נולד בסלוצק לאביו, ר’ אהרון, שאחר כך נתמנה לרב בסטרובין. נודע כעילוי עצום ובגיל 6 נתנבא עליו ר’ יוסלה’ מסלוצק (פיימר) שהוא יהיה גדול הדור. מגיל 15 למד בישיבת וואלוז’ין וצמח לתלמיד חכם עצום. בשנת תרכ”ג 1863, בהיותו בן 21 בלבד, נתמנה לרבה של סטרובין עקב פטירת אביו. בתרל”ט 1879, החל לכהן כרב בחסלוביץ, ומשנת תרמ”ד 1884 במשך 45 שנים כיהן כרב בפרוזנא עד לפטירתו. מחותנו של ר’ חיים בריסקער (חמיו של ר’ משה סאלאוויצ’יק) והיה מעורב באופן מעשי בחינוכו של נכדו ר’ יוסף דב סאלאוויצ’יק מבוסטון. גיסו של ר’ דוד פיינשטיין, אביו של ר’ משה.
