In 1768 the Gaon’s relative R. Eliyahu Peseles bought a house and established a permanent minyan for the Gaon and his talmidim. After the petirah of the Gaon in 1797, it was decided to convert the minyan into a Kloiz. The Gaon’s Kloiz was one of the most prominent and venerated minyanim in Vilna. Among many other outstanding personalities, R. Avraham Danzig (Chayei Adam), and Mechutan of the Gaon, used to daven in this Kloiz.

עם כמה כתובות בכתב יד “שהספר הזה שייך לבית המדרש של הגאון מווילנה”.
בשנת תקכ”ח 1768 קנה קרוב משפחתו של הגאון ר’ אליהו פסלס בית והקים בו מניין קבוע להגאון ולתלמידיו. לאחר פטירת הגאון בתקנ”ז 1797, הוחלט להסב את המניין לקלויז. קלויז הגאון היה מהמניינים העיקריים והנערצים בווילנה. אישים גדולים רבים נהגו להתפלל בקלויז זה, ביניהם ר’ אברהם דנציג (חיי אדם) ומחותנו של הגאון.
