A summons to appear at the “Staatspolizei” (State police) office in Kiel, Germany, issued to an official for his failure to return the “Deutschen Grusse” (German Greeting) i.e. Heil Hitler. On the back of the document there is a handwritten legal note, which is addressed to the President of the “Landesgericht” (the state court) which is one superior to that of the defendant, Mr. Ziehm, who was a judge at the “Amtsgericht” level.
Under a decree issued by the Nazis on 13 July 1933, all German public employees were required to use the salute. By the end of 1934, special courts were established to punish those who refused to salute. Offenders, faced the possibility of being sent to a concentration camp.
In today’s age, with Holocaust denial unfortunately rampant, these documents are important evidence of one of our people’s darkest hours.

זימון להופעה במשרדי “סטאטספוליזי” (משטרת המדינה) בקיל, גרמניה. נשלח לפקיד על סירובו להשיב ב”דויטשה גרוס” (ברכה גרמנית), כלומר הייל היטלר. מאחורי המסמך יש מכתב משפטי בכתב יד, המופנה לנשיא “לנדסגריכט” (בית המשפט הממלכתי) שהוא בדרגה אחת למעלה מזו של הנאשם, מר זיהם, שהיה שופט בדרגת “אמצגריכט”. על פי צו שהוציאו הנאצים בי”ט בתמוז תרצ”ג (13 ביולי 1933), נדרשו כל עובדי הציבור הגרמניים להצדיע. עד סוף שנת תרצ”ד (1934), הוקמו בתי משפט מיוחדים להענשת אלה שסירבו להצדיע. העבריינים, עמדו בפני האפשרות להישלח למחנה ריכוז.
בעידן של ימינו, כשהכחשת השואה מתפשטת למרבה הצער, מסמכים שכאלה הינם עדות חשובה לזמנים החשוכים ביותר של עמנו.
