Among the refugees that found a safe haven in Shanghai during the Holocaust were a small community of Lubavitcher Chasidim, students of the Tomchei Temimim network of Yeshivos. Although eventually, these Jews settled elsewhere, as late as 1946 there was still a need to print Siddurim for the community of Lubavitch Chassidim in China.
