Although the Ba’al Ha-Turim was first printed in Constantinople 1500 and subsequently in almost every edition of the Chumash, it was not until 1806 that the complete commentary was published. The Ba’al HaTurim’s concise commentary consists of mystical and symbolical references often using gematria and acronyms as well as other occurrences of particular words elsewhere in the Torah. The Peirush Al HaTorah is a lengthy commentary and its publication in 1806 was of particular significance.

אמנם הפרוש בעל הטורים נדפס לראשונה בשנת ר”ס (1500) בקושטא, ומאז מופיע כמעט בכל מהדורה של החומש, אולם רק בשנת תקס”ו (1806) יצא לאור בשלמותו. פרוש בעל הטורים הינו פרוש תמציתי המורכב מסימנים וסודות עמוקים ופעמים רבות אף מגימטריות וראשי תיבות וכן השוואה למקומות שונים בתורה בהם מופיעות מילים מסוימות. הפרוש על התורה הינו ארוך ולכן הוצאתו לאור בתקס”ו (1806) הינה הישג משמעותי.
