Compendium of various works authored by R. Zechariah Yeshayahu Yolles. Includes Talmudic novella, both Halachic and Aggadic, book reviews, poems and scientific theory, as well as the highly controversial work Dover Mesharim, first published in Lemberg 1831.
Dover Mesharim was published as a refutation of the Sefer Ohr Olam which included various Talmudic indices attributed to R. Mordechai Yaffe (the Levush). R. Yolles competently disproved the possibility that these indices were written by the Levush, and ventures that the author was seemingly not particularly proficient in the Talmud. This sparked an outcry, with the Chasam Sofer writing a letter to R. Yolles. What followed was a heated correspondence, ending with an extremely sharp letter written by the Chasam Sofer, published at the end of this sefer (p. 548).
R. Zechariah Yeshayahu Yolles (1814-1852), was born into a rabbinical family and was regarded from a young age as an outstanding genius. He lived in Minsk where he authored various works and corresponded with the great Torah leaders of the period, as well as with various Jewish intellectuals “Maskilim”.
At the beginning of the sefer appears a photograph of the author and a eulogy delivered by R. Dovid Tevel (author of Nachlas Dovid), on the author’s passing.

אוסף של ספרים שונים מאת ר’ זכריה ישעיהו יולס. עם חידושים על הש”ס, הן בהלכה והן באגדה, ביקורת ספרות, שירים ותיאוריה מדעית וכן הספר השנוי במחלוקת “דובר מישרים” שיצא לאור לראשונה בלמברג תקצ”א (1831). “דובר מישרים” יצא לאור כהפרכה לספר “אור עולם” שכלל מפתחות תלמודיים שונים שיוחסו לר’ מרדכי יפה (ה”לבוש”). הרב יולס הפריך במומחיות את הסברה שמפתחות אלו נכתבו על ידי הלבוש, ומוסיף שהמחבר לכאורה אינו בקי במיוחד בתלמוד. בעקבות כך קמה מחאה והחתם סופר כתב מכתב לרב יולס. התוצאה הייתה התכתבות סוערת, שבסיומה כתב החתם סופר מכתב חריף מאוד. המכתב הודפס בסוף ספר זה (עמוד 548).
ר’ זכריה ישעיהו יולס (תקע”ד-תרי”ב 1814-1852) נולד למשפחה רבנית והיה ידוע מגיל צעיר כעילוי יוצא דופן. הוא חי במינסק, שם חיבר כמה ספרים והתכתב עם גדולי מנהיגי התורה בדורו וכן עם משכילים.
בראשית הספר מופיע תצלום של המחבר והספד שמסר ר’ דוד טעביל (נחלת דוד) לאחר פטירתו של המחבר.
