Polemic by R. Shmuel Shraga Feigenson, who was one of the editors of the famed Vilna Shas. The author lists and explains places where the Christian censors altered the text, in Tanach, Mishnah, Talmud, Midrash, and provides a fascinating glimpse into the history of “religious censoring”. Apparently there were several few objectives in the censoring; 1. To remove passages they considered offensive, 2. To insert passages which would provide “proofs” of their beliefs, 3. To deliberately arouse Christian hatred of the Jews.

פולמוס מאת ר’ שמואל שרגא פייגנסון, שהיה אחד מעורכי ש”ס ווילנא המפורסם. המחבר מונה ומסביר את המקומות בהם הצנזורה הנוצרית שינתה את משמעות הנכתב בתנ”ך, במשנה, בגמרא, במדרש, ונותן הצצה מרתקת להיסטוריה של הצנזורה הדתית. כפי המסתבר הייתה לצנזורה כמה מטרות; א. להסיר קטעים שנדמו בעיניהם פוגעניים. ב. להכניס קטעים שיהוו “הוכחות” לאמונותיהם הטפלות. ג. לעורר במתכוון את שנאת הנוצרים ליהודים.
