The Tzemach Dovid is divided into two parts, the first containing the annals of Jewish history and the second those of general world-history. For the second part, the author consulted the writings of various non Jewish historians. In this regard the Tzemach Dovid is the first work of its kind.
R. Dovid Gans (1541-1613), was a pupil of both R. Moshe Isserles (ReMA) and R. Yehuda Lowe (MaHaRAL) of Prague. Author of the Kabbalistic and scientific Nechmad V’Naa’im.
