R. Yeshaya Steiner of Kerestir (1852-1922), known as Reb Shayla, was a student of R. Tzvi Hirsh of Liska. He was orphaned from his father at the age of three and was raised in the home of R. Tzvi Hirsh of Liska. Reb Shayla was world famous for his unparalleled charity and he personally engaged in feeding the crowds, who would throng to Kerestir to bask in the light of this great Tzaddik. He was also a great miracle worker and there are countless stories related “of open miracles”. For decades it has been considered a Segulah to hang a portrait of R. Shayla and to this day his portrait hangs in many homes. Tens of thousands flock to his Kever in Kerestir, particularly on his Yahrzeit.

ר’ ישעיה שטיינר מקרעסטיר (תרי”ב- תרפ”ב, 1852-1922) המכונה ר’ ישעילה’, היה תלמידו של ר’ צבי הירש מליסקא, (אך פרי תבואה). הוא התייתם מאביו בגיל שלוש וגדל בביתו של ר’ צבי הירש מליסקא. ר’ ישעילה’ נודע בכל העולם במעשי הצדקה חסד העצומים שלו. הוא התעסק באופן אישי בהאכלת ההמונים שנהרו לקרעסטיר להסתופף בצילו הגדול. התפרסם כפועל ישועות וחולל אינספור ניסים גלויים. עד היום תולים רבים את דמות דיוקנו בביתם ועשרות אלפים נוהרים אל קברו בקרעסטיר, במיוחד ביום היארצייט שלו.
