R. Shimshon Morforgo of Ancona (1681-1740), was a talmid of the Dvar Shmuel. Enormously respected, he was one of the leading rabbinical figures in Italy. Ancona’s Jews had a tradition to pray at his grave on Erev Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, and even composed a special prayer for the event.

ר’ שמשון מורפורגו מאנקונה (תמ”א- ת”ק, 1681-1740), היה תלמיד של הדבר שמואל. היה מגדולי ונכבדי הרבנים באיטליה. יהודי אנקונה נהגו להתפלל על קברו בערב ראש השנה ויום הכיפורים, ואפילו חיברו תפילה מיוחדת הנאמרת באירוע זה.
