R. Ephraim Navon (1677-1735), was born in Constantinople and was renowned from a young age as a tremendous Talmid Chochom. In 1700 he immigrated to Yerusholayim, where he isolated himself for over ten years, learning in Yeshivas Neve Sholom. He later was appointed as a SHaDaR and travelled to Constantinople. There he was prevailed upon to settle as a Dayan by R. Yehuda Rosanes (Mishna L’Melech). While in Constantinople, he wrote his sefer Machneh Ephraim. Before his passing, he asked his son R. Yehuda Navon, (author of Sefer Kiryas Melech Rav), to edit and prepare his sefer for publication.

R. Shlomo Ardit (died 1751) was one of the distinguished Talmidei Chachomim in Izmir. Towards the end of his life he immigrated to Eretz Yisroel, settling in Yerusholayim. Author of Divrei Shlomo and Otzer Sholom.

חיבור יסודי עם חידושי תורה על הרמב”ם מאת ר’ אפרים נבון.
ר’ אפרים נבון (תל”ז- תצ”ה, 1677-1735) נולד בקושטא ונודע עוד מצעירותו כתלמיד חכם עצום. בשנת ת”ס 1700 עלה לירושלים, והתבודד בה במשך למעלה מעשר שנים, בלימוד בישיבת נווה שלום. לימים נתמנה לשד”ר ונסע לקושטא, שם שיכנע אותו ר’ יהודה רוזנס (משנה למלך) להישאר בה כדיין. את ספרו מחנה אפרים כתב בעודו בקושטא, וטרם פטירתו ביקש מבנו, ר’ יהודה נבון (מחבר ספר קריית מלך רב) לעורכו ולהכינו לדפוס.
ר’ שלמה ארדיט (נפטר תקי”א) היה מחכמי איזמיר. בסוף ימיו עלה לארץ ישראל והתיישב בירושליים. מחבר ספר דברי שלמה ואוצר שלום.
