R. Chaim HaLevi Soloveitchik known as R. Chaim Brisker (1853-1918), was the founder of the popular ‘Brisker’ approach to Talmud study, a method of highly exacting and analytical study that focuses on precise definitions and categorizations of Jewish law with particular emphasis on the RaMBaM. Following many years as a Maggid Shiur in the renowned Volozhiner Yeshiva, he succeeded his father (Bais HaLevi) as Rav of Brisk. His primary sefer was Chidushei Rabbeinu Chaim HaLevi; a volume of insights on the RaMBaM, which was published posthumously by his sons. This Sefer is one of the most fundamental works in the Lithuanian school of Yeshivos.
