R. Mordechai Yaffe (1530-1612), known as The Levush, was born in Prague and learned under R. Shlomo Luria (Ma’HaRSHaL) in Lublin and the ReMA in Cracow. After his marriage he settled in Prague, where he established a Yeshiva. Following the expulsion of the Jews from Prague in 1557, he settled in Italy. He later served in various important rabbinical positions, including Lublin, Prague and Posen. Received with enormous acclaim, the Levush is one of the most fundamental Halachic works.

מהדורה נדירה של ספר הלבוש לרב מרדכי יפה זצ”ל. כולל כל ארבעת חלקי החיבור: לבוש התכלת (אורח חיים), לבוש עטרת זהב (יורה דעה), לבוש בוץ וארגמן (אבן העזר), ולבוש עיר שושן (חושן משפט). כולל ארבעה עמודי שער, ארבעה כרכים נפרדים.
הרב מרדכי יפה (ר”צ-שע”ב, 1530-1612), הנודע בכינויו הלבוש, נולד בפראג ולמד אצל הרב שלמה לוריא (מהרש”ל) בלובלין ולאחר מכן אצל הרמ”א בקראקא. לאחר נישואיו התיישב בפראג והקים ישיבה במקום. בעקבות גירוש יהודי פראג בשנת שי”ז (1557) הוא עבר לאיטליה. לאחר מכן הוא כיהן במספר משרות רבניות חשובות, בין היתר בלובלין, בפראג ובפוזנא. הלבוש נחשב לחיבור הלכתי חשוב ויסודי ביותר והוא התקבל בהתלהבות רבה.
