R. Yoel Sirkis (1561-1640), was a student of R. Leibush of Lublin. Known as one of the greatest early Achronim, he served as Rov in various important communities, including, Lublin, Mezhibuzh, Belz, Brisk and finally Cracow. In Cracow, he published his monumental commentary to the Tur under the title Beis Chodosh. In addition to his commentary on the Tur, he authored glosses on Talmud Bavli known as Hago’as HaBaCH. He was the father-in-law of R. Dovid HaLevi Segal, (Turei Zahav) who refers to the Ba”CH extensively in his commentary on the Shulchan Aruch.

ר’ יואל סירקיש (שכ”א-ת’ 1561-1640) היה תלמידו של ר’ לייביש מלובלין. התפרסם כאחד מגדולי האחרונים ושימש כרב בקהילות חשובות רבות כולל לובלין, מעז’יבוז’, בעלז, בריסק ולבסוף קראקא. בקראקא הוא הוציא לאור את פירושו המונומנטלי על הטור תחת השם “בית חדש”. בנוסף לפירושו על הטור הוא כתב הגהות על הש”ס המכונות הגהות הב”ח. היה חמיו של הרב דוד הלוי סגל (טורי זהב), המצטט את הב”ח בהרחבה בפירושו על השולחן ערוך.
החלק יורה דעה שלם, בחלק אבן העזר חסרים עשרה עמודים בסך הכל.
