Kagan, R. Yisroel Meir/Chofetz Chaim. 5 Volumes of Mishna Berurah with “Muga”.
Authored by the Chofetz Chaim and published in six volumes over a period of more than twenty years, the Mishna Berurah is widely accepted as the primary authority on the laws of Orach Chaim among Ashkenazi Jews, particularly in the Yeshiva world.
As is well known, the Chofetz Chaim with the assistance of his family, personally checked every sefer before it was sold to ensure he would not be selling defective goods. Once checked, they were inscribed in Hebrew with the word “Muga” (checked).
