Classic work of responsa by the Chasam Sofer. 6 volumes, 5 of them first editions. Published posthumously, the responsa of the Chasam Sofer were received to great acclaim and remain classics of Halachic scholarship until today.
R. Moshe Sofer (1762–1839), was the pre-eminent rabbinical leader of his time. He was a talmid of R. Nosson Adler and R. Pinchos Horowitz (Haflo’ah). From his youth, his was renowned as an outstanding Talmid Chochom. He served as Rav in various Kehillos, most notably Mattesdorf and Pressburg and had an enormous influence on his generation and remains revered until the present day. In addition to his rabbinical duties, he also led a great Yeshiva and most of the Rabbonim of the next generation in Austria-Hungary were his talmidim. The Chasam Sofer had particularly distinguished children, including the K’sav Sofer and R. Shimon Sofer (Michtav Sofer) and hundreds of distinguished descendants, many of whom were great Rabbonim.

ספר שו”ת יסודי מאת החת”ם סופר. 6 כרכים, 5 מתוכם מהדורות ראשונות. תשובות החת”ם סופר, שנדפסו לאחר פטירתו, התקבלו באהדה עצומה ונחשבים ספרי יסוד בלימוד ההלכה עד ימינו.
ר’ משה סופר (תקכ”ב- תקצ”ט, 1762-1839), היה גדול מנהיגי התורה בדורו. תלמיד של ר’ נתן אדלר ור’ פנחס הורביץ (ההפלאה). עוד מצעירותו נודע כתלמיד חכם עצום, וכיהן כרב בקהילות שונות, כשהנודעות בהן מטרסדורף ופרשבורג. הייתה לו השפעה רבה על דורו ועד היום שמו מעורר הערצה. נוסף לפועליו הרבניים, הוא גם עמד בראשות ישיבה מעטירה ורוב רבני אוסטרו- הונגריה בדור הבא היו מתלמידיו. החת”ם סופר זכה להעמיד בנים מופלגים ביניהם הכתב סופר והמכתב סופר ומאות צאצאים נכבדים, אשר רבים מהם שמשו ברבנות.
