Rare autograph letter by R. Dovid Rappaport to the Gabbaim of the Chevron Yeshiva. R. Dovid writes that he is sending three copies of his recently published Mikdash Dovid part 3, one for the Yeshiva, one for R. Isser Zalman Meltzer and one for R. Shlomo Goloventzitz and requests a letter confirming receipt of the seforim. In response, the Gabbai of the Chevron Yeshiva wrote to R. Dovid (in a letter included in this lot,) that the Chevron Yeshiva is greatly enjoying the sefer, and that he indeed gave over the other 2 copies that were sent to R. Isser Zalman Meltzer and R. Shlomo Goloventzitz. He requests that R. Dovid again send the first 2 parts of the Sefer to the Yeshiva, since they are used to such an extent that the bochurim need to wait for a turn to use them.
R. Dovid HaKohen Rappaport (1889-1941), was born in Minsk to a descendant of R. Akiva Eiger. He learned in the Slabodka Yeshiva and from 1915, in the Ponevezh Yeshiva. Following WWI, the Alter of Slabodka invited him to the newly established Slabodka Kollel. In 1928, he accepted the position of Maggid Shiur in the Baranovitch Yeshiva under R. Elchonon Wasserman, where he served until WWII. He passed away in a Russian labor camp in 1942. He authored the popular seforim Tzemach Dovid on R. Akiva Eiger and Mikdash Dovid on Zera’im and Taharos.

מכתב אוטוגרפי נדיר שכתב ר’ דוד רפפורט לגבאי ישיבת חברון. ר’ דוד כותב כי הוא שולח 3 עותקים של ספרו האחרון מקדש דוד חלק ג, עותק אחד עבור הישיבה, אחד לר’ איסר זלמן מלצר ואחד לר’ שלמה גולובנציץ’. הוא מבקש שישיבו לו במכתב המאשר את קבלת הספרים. בתשובה כתב לו הגבאי (במכתב המצורף כאן) כי ישיבת חברון נהנית ביותר מהספר וכי העביר את שני העותקים הנוספים לר’ איסר זלמן מלצר ור’ שלמה גולובנציץ’. כמו כן, הוא מבקש מר’ דוד לשלוח שוב את שני החלקים הראשונים של ספרו, שכן השימוש בהם כל כך תכוף, עד כדי שהבחורים נאלצים להמתין לתורם כדי לעיין בהם.
ר’ דוד הכהן רפפורט (תרמ”ו- תש”א, 1889-1941), נולד במינסק לצאצא של ר’ עקיבא איגר. למד בישיבת סלבודקא, ומשנת תרע”ה 1915 בישיבת פוניבז’. אחר מלחמת העולם הראשונה קרא לו הסבא לכולל סלבודקא שזה עתה נוסד. בשנת תרפ”ח 1928 נענה להצעה לכהן כמגיד שיעור בישיבתו של ר’ אלחנן ווסרמן בברנוביץ, שם המשיך לכהן עד מלחמת העולם השנייה. נפטר במחנה עבודה רוסי בשנת תש”ב 1942. חיבר את הספרים האהודים צמח צדק על ר’ עקיבא איגר ומקדש דוד על זרעים וטהרות.
