For hundreds of years, affluent individuals would commission custom bindings for their cherished seforim. As a privilege of the wealthy, these bindings were particularly treasured and passed through the generations. The actual bookbinding technique is conventional with the folios stitched together and bound to wooden cover boards. The silver furnishings are then fixed onto these boards.
