First edition of the classic sefer of halachic responsa by R. Moshe Alshich (1508-1600), published posthumously by his son R. Chaim Alshich.
R. Moshe Alshich was a talmid of R. Yosef Karo (Beis Yosef) and R. Yosef Tiatzik. He was born in Turkey and emigrated to Tzefas together with the Bais Yosef, and later served as a Dayan on the Bais Yosef’s Beth Din. Revered for his phenomenal scholarship both in the revealed parts of the Torah as well as Kabbalah, he has the distinction of being referred to as the Alshich Ha’Kodosh (the Holy Alshich). His talmidim include R. Chaim Vital and R. Yom Tov Tzahalon (MaHaRITaT”Z).

ר’ משה אלשיך היה מתלמידי ר’ יוסף קארו (בית יוסף) ור’ יוסף טיאציק. הוא נולד בטורקיה והיגר לצפת יחד עם הבית יוסף, ובהמשך שימש כדיין בבית דינו של הבית יוסף. ידיעותיו העצומות בתורת הנגלה כמו גם בחכמת הקבלה הקנו לו הערצה מיוחדת והוא כונה “האלשיך הקדוש”. בין תלמידיו ר’ חיים ויטל ור’ יום טוב צהלון (מהריט”ץ).
