R. Meir Berlin (Bar-Ilan) (1880-1949), was born in Volozhin youngest child of his father the Netziv, and studied in the great Yeshivos of Volozhin, Telshe, Brisk and together with his grandfather, the Oruch Ha’Shulchon in Novardok. In 1905, he joined the Mizrachi movement soon becoming one of its most prominent voices and eventually its leader. He co-founded the Encyclopedia Talmudis project and wrote many of the entries in the first two volumes.

ר’ מאיר ברלין (בר-אילן) (תרמ”ח-תש”ט 1880-1949), נולד בוולוז’ין בן זקונים לאביו הנצי”ב ולמד בישיבות המעטירות בוולוז’ין, טלז ובריסק ועם סבו, “הערוך השולחן” בנובהרדוק. בשנת תרס”ה (1905), הצטרף לתנועת המזרחי והפך במהרה לאחד הקולות הבולטים שלה ובסופו של דבר למנהיגה. הוא ייסד את פרויקט האנציקלופדיה התלמודית וכתב רבות מהערכים בשני הכרכים הראשונים.
