R. Yehoshua Neuwirth (1927-2013), was born in Berlin, Germany, to R. Aaron who was the Rav of a number of German Kehillos. During The War his family lived in hiding and the only sefer the young boy had with him was the Mishna Berurah on Hilchos Shabbos, in which he became proficient at a young age. In 1946 he emigrated to Yerusholayim where he studied in the Kol Torah Yeshiva, becoming one of the closest students OF R. Shlomo Zalman Auerbach. His sefer Shemiras Shabbos K’Hilchaso, is studied throughout world Jewry and is one the most widely accepted seforim on Hilchos Shabbos.

ר’ יהושע נויבירט (תרפ”ז-תשע”ג 1927-2013) נולד בברלין, גרמניה, לאביו ר’ אהרן ששימש כרב במספר קהילות בגרמניה. במהלך המלחמה ירדה משפחתו למחתרת, והספר היחיד בידי הנער הצעיר היה משנה ברורה על הלכות שבת, בו נעשה בקי בגיל צעיר. בשנת תש”ו (1946) הוא עלה לירושלים ולמד בישיבת קול תורה, שם צמח לאחד התלמידים המקורבים ביותר לר’ שלמה זלמן אוירבך. ספרו “שמירת שבת כהלכתה” נלמד ברחבי העולם היהודי והפך לאחד הספרים המקובלים ביותר על הלכות שבת.
