Historical letter signed by R. Eliezer Kalir and the Roshei Ha’Kehilah of Rechnitz, written to the Kehilla in Oben-Yoshon requesting financial assistance to repair the Shul building whose roof is in danger of collapse.
R. Eliezer Kalir (1738-1802) was a grandson of R. Meir Eisenstadt (Ponim Me’iros) and one of the greatest leaders of his generation, held in enormous esteem by his rabbinical colleagues as well as by the masses. He served as Rav in various communities, including Rechnitz, where he led a great Yeshiva, Oben-Yoshon and Kollin. Author of Ohr Chodosh, Cheiker Halocha and others, which were received with great acclaim.

ר’ אליעזר קאליר (תצ”ח-תקס”ב 1738-1802) היה נכדו של ר’ מאיר אייזנשטאט (“פנים מאירות”) ומגדולי מנהיגי דורו. הוערץ על ידי עמיתיו הרבנים ופשוטי העם. הוא שימש כרב בקהילות שונות, כולל רכניץ, בה עמד בראש ישיבה גדולה, אובן-יושון וקולין. חיבר את הספרים “אור חדש”, “חקר הלכה” ועוד, שהתקבלו בהתלהבות רבה.
