R. Yaakov Tzvi Mecklenburg (1785-1865) served as Rav of Konigsberg, and was one of the most influential Rabbonim in Germany in the Nineteenth century who battled mightily against the Reform movement. He was close to various disciples of the Gaon and was actively involved in the printing in of numerous seforim of the Gaon, some of which were printed in Konigsberg. His magnum opus Ha’Ksav V’Ha’Kabbolah is one of the classic commentaries on the Torah.
