R. Ovadia Yosef (1920-2013), was born in Baghdad, and immigrated as a child with his parents to Yerusholayim. Known as child prodigy, he was famous from a young age as tremendous Talmid Chochom, coupled with incessant hasmoda. He served in various distinguished positions, notably as Chief Rabbi of Cairo, Tel Aviv and finally as Rishon L’Zion. Author of tens of seforim, he was the preeminent leader and Halachic decisor of the Sephardic community in recent years.

ר’ עובדיה יוסף (תר”פ-תרע”ג 1920-2013) נולד בבגדד ועלה לירושלים בגיל ארבע. הוא נודע כעילוי מילדות, וכבר מגיל צעיר יצא שמו כתלמיד חכם דגול בעל התמדה עצומה. הוא שימש במשרות חשובות רבות, ביניהן משרת הרב הראשי של קהיר ותל אביב, ולבסוף התמנה כראשון לציון. חיבר עשרות ספרים והיה הפוסק ומנהיג העל של הקהילה הספרדית בשנים האחרונות.
