Warm letter of gratitude sent by R. Shimon Shkop thanking for a donation to the Yeshiva, which he writes is “considered one of the greatest Yeshivos throughout the whole region of Poland and Lithuania”. Typewritten on stationary with his signature and stamp.
R. Shimon Yehuda Ha’Cohen Shkop (1860-1940), learned in the great Yeshivos of Mir and Volozhin. In 1884, he was appointed as a Maggid Shiur in Telz where he remained until 1903, when he succeeded his father as Rav of Moltash. In 1920, he became Rosh Yeshiva in Grodno where his shiurim attracted hundreds of students. Under his leadership, Yeshivas Grodno became world famous as a bastion of Torah, and his seforim Sharei Yosher and Chidushei R. Shimon are studied in great depth in Yeshivos worldwide.

מכתב תודה חם מר’ שמעון שקאפ על תרומה לישיבה. מודפס במכונת כתיבה על נייר מכתבים עם חתימתו וחותמתו. הוא כתב ” שישיבתינו נחשבת כעת לאחת מן הישיבות היותר גדולות בכל ארץ ליטא ופולין”
ר’ שמעון יהודה הכהן שקאפ (תר”כ – ת”ש, 1860-1940), למד בישיבות הגדולות במיר ובוולוז’ין. בתרמ”ד (1884), נתמנה למגיד שיעור בטעלז, תפקיד בו כיהן עד שנת תרס”ג (1903), אז ירש את מקום אביו כרב במולטאש. בתר”פ (1920), נתמנה לראש ישיבה בגרודנא ואל שיעוריו שם נמשכו מאות תלמידים. תחת הנהגתו הפכה הישיבה למפורסמת בעולם כמעוז תורה. ספריו, שערי יושר וחידושי ר’ שמעון, נלמדים בעומק רב בישיבות ברחבי העולם.
