Important letter sent by the Va’ad HaYeshivos to R. Moshe Sokolovsky. The Va’ad HaYeshivos write that there was a meeting in Zurich to discuss the funding of Yeshivos through “The Joint”. The Joint apparently didn’t see the necessity for so many Yeshivos and wanted to introduce vocational training into the Yeshivos. At the behest of R. Chaim Ozer, all the Roshei Yeshiva were requested to sign a memorandum to the Joint, unequivocally stating that in truth the number of Yeshivos is small and that should vocational training be added to the curriculum the entire nature of the Yeshivos will be changed.
The Imrei Moshe responds that in order that “the Torah not be forgotten” there is absolutely no leeway to negotiate on these matters as stated by the Va’ad HaYeshivos and R. Chaim Ozer. With his signature and rabbinical stamp.
R. Moshe Sokolovsky (1868-1931), was a close student of R. Chaim of Brisk and from the year 1896-1931 served as Rosh Yeshivas Toras Chesed in Brisk, for a period together with R. Simcha Zelig Reiger. His sefer Imrei Moshe, was received in the Yeshiva world to great acclaim and is considered a classic to this day. His distinguished students include R. Moshe Soloveitchik of Switzerland, R. Aaron Yehuda Leib Steinman, R. Aryeh Pomeranchik (Toras Zera’im) and R. Ze’ev Eidelman.

מכתב חשוב ששלחו וועד הישיבות לר’ משה סוקולובסקי. וועד הישיבות כותבים כי התקיימה פגישה בציריך כדי לדון באחזקת הישיבות על ידי הג’וינט. כפי המסתבר, חברי הג’וינט לא ראו צורך בישיבות רבות כל כך וביקשו להכניס גם הכשרה מקצועית לתוך הישיבות. להוראת ר’ חיים עוזר, התבקשו כל ראשי הישיבות לחתום על עצומה אל הג’וינט המציינת בצורה חד משמעית כי מספר הישיבות קטן ביחס לצורך, וכי אם תוכנס ההכשרה המקצועית אל היכלי הישיבות – תשתנה כל מהות הישיבות.
האמרי משה משיב כי על מנת שלא תשתכח התורה, אין כאן שום מקום לדיונים על הנושאים הנ”ל, כפי דעת וועד הישיבות ודעת ר’ חיים עוזר. עם חתימה וחותמת רבנית.
ר’ משה סוקולובסקי (תרכ”ח- תרצ”א, 1868-1931), היה תלמיד מקורב לר’ חיים מבריסק. בין השנים תרנ”ו לתרצ”א 1896-1931, כיהן כראש ישיבת תורת חסד בבריסק, בתקופה מסוימת יחד עם ר’ שמחה זעליג רייגר. ספרו אמרי משה התקבל באהדה רבה בעולם הישיבות, ונחשב ספר יסוד עד ימינו אנו. בין תלמידיו נמנים ר’ משה סאלאוויצ’יק משוויץ, ר’ אהרן יהודה לייב שטיינמן, ר’ אריה פומרנצ’יק (תורת זרעים) ור’ זאב איידלמן.
