Autograph letter, dated spring 1962 written to MK Moshe Shapira congratulating him upon his sixtieth birthday. Rav Soloveitchik writes that he learned of the birthday through reading the newspaper, and expresses heartfelt words of friendship and good wishes in honor of the occasion. Continues with the importance of his Shapira’s position of the behalf of the Jewish people and the State of Israel, which provides an important glimpse of Rav Soloveitchik’s view on the destiny of the Jewish people and the State of Israel.
R. Joseph Ber Soloveitchik (1903 -1993) was Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchok Elchanan (RIETS) at Yeshiva University. He was a scion of the renowned Soloveitchik family, and was named after his great grandfather the Bais Halevy. He was known as both a great Talmudic scholar and original thinker, and had a profound influence of the development of the Orthodox Jewish community in the U.S. in the post Holocaust era.

מכתב אוטוגרפי, מתוארך לאביב תשכ”ב (1962) וממוען לח”כ משה שפירא. המכתב מברך את הנמען לרגל יום הולדתו השישים. הרב סולובייצ’יק כותב שהוא קרא על יום ההולדת בעיתון ומביע איחולים ומילים חמות של ידידות לכבוד האירוע. הוא ממשיך בחשיבות מעמדו של שפירא לטובת עם ישראל ומדינת ישראל. הערה זו מספקת הצצה חשובה לעמדתו של הרב סולובייצ’יק בעניין גורל העם היהודי ומדינת ישראל.
הרב יוסף בער סולובייצ’יק (תרס”ג-תשנ”ג 1903-1993) היה ראש ישיבת רבינו יצחק אלחנן (RIETS) בישיבה יוניברסיטי. הוא היה נצר למשפחת סולובייצ’יק הדגולה ונקרא על שם סבו הגדול ה”בית הלוי”. הוא היה ידוע כתלמיד חכם גדול והוגה דעות מקורי, והייתה לו השפעה מכרעת על פיתוח הקהילה היהודית-אורתודוקסית בארצות הברית לאחר תקופת השואה.
