Heartwarming letter signed by R. Menachem Mendel Schneerson of Lubavitch to a Rebbetzin in Eretz Yisroel. The Rebbe writes that he had received a letter from a 12-year-old girl in Tel Aviv who was in Bais Yaakov Ha’Chadash and had written to the Rebbe inquiring if she should switch to the “Talpiot” school. The Rebbe requests from this Rebbetzin that she should look further in to the matter and respond with the necessary information. This letter is indicative of the concern and diligence the Rebbe showed to every query posed to him, even to those from school-children.
R. Menachem Mendel Schneerson (1902–1994), was one of the most influential Jewish leaders of the twentieth century. He was born in the town of Nikolaev, Russia to R. Levi Yitzchak and Rebbetzin Chana Schneerson. Known as a great genius, by the time he was seventeen, he had mastered the entire Talmud, and went on to receive Semicha from R. Yosef Rosen; the Rogatchover Gaon and R. Yechiel Yaakov Weinberg (Sreidei Aish). In 1928, he married the daughter of the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, R. Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson, whom he ultimately succeeded as Rebbe. In that capacity, he tirelessly dedicated himself to world Jewish outreach and he succeeded in establishing Chabad centers all over the world.

מכתב מרגש עם חתימתו של ר’ מנחם מנדל שניאורסון מליובביץ שנשלח לרבנית בארץ ישראל. הרבי כותב כי קיבל מכתב מנערה בת שתיים עשרה מתל אביב הלומדת כעת בבית יעקב החדש, והיא שואלת את הרבי האם לעבור לבית ספר “תלפיות”. הרבי מבקש מהרבנית הנמענת לברר את הנושא לאשורו ולענות את האינפורמציה הנדרשת. ממכתב זה אנו למדים על הדאגה והמסירות של הרבי לכל שאלה שהגיעה אליו, אפילו כאלה מילדי בית ספר.
ר’ מנחם מנדל שניאורסון (תרס”ב-תשנ”ד 1902-1994), אחד המנהיגים המשפיעים ביותר במאה הקודמת, נולד בעיירת ניקולייב שברוסיה להוריו, ר’ לוי יצחק והרבנית חנה שניאורסון. הנער, שהתפרסם כעילוי, שלט בש”ס כולו בגיל שבע עשרה והוסמך לרבנות על ידי ר’ יוסף רוזן – הגאון מרוגאצ’וב, ור’ יחיאל יעקב וינברג, בעל ה”שרידי אש”. בשנת תרפ”ח (1928) נישא לבתו של האדמו”ר השישי מליובאוויטש, ר’ יוסף יצחק שניאורסון, שאת מקומו ירש על כס האדמו”רות. התמסר ללא לאות לקירוב רחוקים ברחבי העולם וייסד מרכזי חב”ד בכל העולם.
