R. Avrohom Abish Schapiro (1810-1873), was a son of R. Yaakov Schapiro whom he succeeded as Rav of Humana. Prior to that he served as Rav in Varanov. As direct descendants of the revered R. Nosson Nota Schapiro (Megala Amukos) the Schapiro family was among the most distinguished rabbinical families in Poland and Galicia, known for their great scholarship. R. Yaakov Schapiro was a well-known talmid of R. Menachem Mendel of Rimanov and a close associate of R. Tzvi Elimelech of Dinov (Bnei Yissoschar).

ר’ אברהם אביש שפירא (תק”ע- תרל”ג, 1810-1873), היה בנו של ר’ יעקב שפירא, שאת מקומו ירש כרבה של חומנא. קודם לכן כיהן כרב בווארנוב. משפחת שפירא נודעה ברחבי פולין וגליציה כמשפחה רבנית נכבדת המפורסמת בלמדנותה, מצאצאי ר’ נתן נטע שפירא (מגלה עמוקות). ר’ יעקב שפירא היה מגדולי תלמידיו של ר’ מנחם מנדל מרימנוב ומקורב לר’ צבי אלימלך מדינוב (בני יששכר).
