R. Shmuel Flackenfeld (1637-1707), was one of the renowned Talmidei Chachomim of his time. The Yeshuos Yaakov stated that R. Shmuel was the greatest Gaon since the times of Rebbe R. Herschel. He served as Rav in numerous prestigious Kehillos, including Pshevorsk, Tarnapol and Posen. His seforim, Beis Shmuel Achron were warmly received and remain classics of Torah scholarship.

ר’ שמואל פלקנפלד (שצ”ז- תס”ז, 1637-1707) היה מתלמידי החכמים המפורסמים בדורו. הישועות יעקב אמר כי ר’ שמואל היה הגאון הגדול ביותר מאז תקופת הרבי ר’ הערשל. כיהן כרב באינספור קהילות חשובות, ביניהן פשעוורסק, טרנפול, ופוזנא. ספריו, בית שמואל אחרון, התקבלו באהדה עצומה והינם ספרי יסוד בלימוד התורה עד ימינו.
