Rare letter to R. Meir Tzvi Jung of Brody in response to the latter’s initiative to found a unified Orthodox political party that would nominate a candidate to represent the Orthodox Jewish community in the Austrian parliament.
R. Nosson Levin (1857-1926), was born in Brody and was a student of R. Yitzchok Schmelkes, (Bais Yitzchok). A prodigious Talmid Chochom, he received Semicha from the Yeshuos Yaakov and others. He served in numerous rabbinical positions, notably Reisha, where he was later succeeded by his son, R. Aaron Levin.

ר’ נתן לוין (תרי”ז-תרפ”ו, 1857-1926), נולד בברודי והיה תלמידו של ר’ יצחק שמעלקס, (בית יצחק). היה תלמיד חכם מופלא, וקיבל סמיכה מהישועות יעקב ועוד. כיהן ברבנות בתפקידים רבים, ובראשן ברישא, בה ירש אותו לימים בנו, ר’ אהרן לוין.
