Share certificate and document of transfer of shares or stock of Ponevezh Yeshiva Proprietary Limited, dated 1927, Johannesburg, South Africa. These documents certify ownership of shares in ventures of the Ponevezh Yeshiva, which was part of a commercial venture through which the Yeshiva would obtain funds earned with various business ventures in South Africa. This was the innovation of R. Y. S. Kahaneman which successfully bore fruit in the years that followed. After narrow escaping the Nazis and immigrating to Eretz Yisroel in the early days of WWII, R. Kahaneman wished to reestablish his Yeshiva in Bnei Brak. Fortuitously as these holdings were in South Africa, then a British Colony, he was able to transfer these funds even under wartime conditions, to Palestine which was then under the British Mandate. These monies then served as the seed money for the Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak.

תעודת מניות והעברת מניות או אגרות חוב של בעלות על ישיבת פונובז’ בע”מ, מתוארכת לשנת תרפ”ז (1927), יוהנסבורג, דרום אפריקה. תעודות אלו מעידות על בעלות מניות בהשקעות ישיבת פונובז’. תכנית זו הייתה חלק מיוזמה מסחרית שבאמצעותה התכוונה הישיבה לקבל כספים דרך יוזמות עסקיות שונות בדרום אפריקה. זו הייתה יוזמתו של הרב י.ש. כהנמן, שנשאה פרי בשנים הבאות. לאחר הצלה ניסית מידי הנאצים ועלייה לארץ ישראל בימי הבראשית של מלחמת העולם השנייה, הרב כהנמן ביקש לייסד מחדש את ישיבתו בבני ברק. למרבה המזל נכסים אלו היו בדרום אפריקה, מושבה בריטית דאז, ולכן הוא הצליח להעביר כספים אלו למרות תנאי המלחמה ששררו בעולם. הכספים הועברו לפלשתינה, שהייתה תחת שליטת המנדט הבריטי. כספים אלו שימשו הון התחלתי לישיבת פונובז’ בבני ברק.
