Historic autograph letter by R. Reuven Grozovsky to Rabbi Dr. Leo Jung of New York. Written at the beginning of the War after the Yeshiva had been exiled from Kaminetz to Vilna and shortly after R. Boruch Ber was niftar. He writes that the Yeshiva had recently moved from Vilna to Reisen because “the situation in Vilna is not conducive to Yeshiva learning as Torah requires Now that they have relocated to Reisen (a small village near Kovno) the bochurim are learning day and night in tranquility”. He then writes that the monetary situation of the Yeshiva is terrible and implores R. Jung to do all he can to raise money on behalf of the Yeshiva “the spiritual inheritance of Rabbeinu HaGodol my father-in-law Maran R. Baruch Dov Leibowitz, who’s soul and spirit constantly hovers over the Yeshiva…”
R. Refoel Reuven Grozovsky (1886-1958), was a son of R. Shimshon Grozovsky, Dayan in Minsk. He learned in the Slabodka Yeshiva where he became known as an outstanding Lamdan. In 1919, he married the daughter of R. Boruch Ber Leibowitz. He was a talmid of R. Boruch Ber and later assisted his father in law in the Yeshiva. Upon arriving to America in the middle of the war, he became extremely active in the Va’ad Hatzalah in an effort to save Jews from the Holocaust. Later he served as Rosh Yeshiva in Torah Vodaath and Beis Medrash Elyon. His seforim Chidushei R. Reuven are widely studied in Yeshivos.

מכתב אוטוגרפי היסטורי שכתב ר’ ראובן גרוזובסקי לר’ ד”ר לאו יאנג מניו יורק. נכתב בתחילת השואה אחר שישיבת קמניץ הגלתה מקמניץ לווילנה, ומעט אחרי פטירתו של ר’ ברוך בער. הוא כותב כי לאחרונה עברה הישיבה מווילנה לראסיין מכיוון “כי עיר ווילנא ההומי’ ….לא מסוגלת להחזקת ישיבה אשר שמעתתא בעיה צילותא” עכשיו שהם עברו לרייזן (עיירה קטנה הסמוכה לקובנא) “ועמלים כל היום לרבות גם הלילה בעמלה של תורה”. אחר כל זאת הוא כותב כי מצבה הכלכלי של הישיבה בכי רע וממנה את הר’ יונג לעשות כל שביכולתו לגייס כספים למען הישיבה “ירושתו הרוחנית של רבינו הגדול מו”ח מרן רבי ברוך דב ליבוביץ, אשר רוחו ונשמתו מרחפת תמיד בישיבתינו הק’ ”
ר’ רפאל ראובן גרוזובסקי (תרמ”ו- תשי”ח 1886-1958), היה בנו של ר’ שמשון גרוזובסקי, מדייני מינסק. למד בישיבת סלבודקא והתפרסם בלמדנותו המופלגת. בשנת תרע”ט (1919) נישא לביתו של ר’ ברוך בער ליבוביץ. היה תלמיד של ר’ ברוך בער ובשנים מאוחרות יותר אף סייע לו בישיבה. עם הגעתו לאמריקה באמצע מלחמת העולם, נטל חלק פעיל בוועד ההצלה במטרה להציל יהודים מהשואה. אחר כך שימש כראש ישיבה בתורה ודעת ובית מדרש עליון. ספריו “חידושי ר’ ראובן” נלמדים בקרב בני הישיבות.
