Autograph responsa to R. Yechiel Yaakov Weinberg (Sridai-Aish). The unusually warm honorifics
“Ha’Gaon Ha’Gadol” (a title R. Moshe reserved for a select few, such as R. Yaakov Kantorovitz and R. Yechezkel Abramsky), are indicative of the esteem in which R. Moshe held R. Weinberg.
Regarding a recalcitrant husband who refused to grant a “Get” (divorce) and relocated to Switzerland. R. Moshe writes very strongly that the Rabbonim in Switzerland must do all they can to force him to grant a divorce including “pursuing the husband with all possible types of Redifos”. With mention of a Psak of Chief Rabbi Herzog.
R. Moshe Feinstein (1895-1986), was born in Uzda, Belarus where his father served as Rav. Recognized as an outstanding Talmid Chochom from a very young age, he was appointed to his first rabbinical post at age 21 and as Rav of Luban a few years later. Following increased religious persecution in Soviet Russia, he immigrated to the United States. He served as Rosh Yeshiva in Mesivta Tiferes Yerusholayim where he taught hundreds of distinguished talmidim. He had a prime role in the establishment of the orthodox Jewish community in the U.S. and greatly impacted Jewry the world over. He was the preeminent Posek of his time answering thousands of Halachic questions from across the world.
R. Yechiel Yaakov Weinberg (1884-1966), was a noted European Rav, Posek and Rosh Yeshiva. He is best known for his work of responsa Sridai-Aish. Born in Poland, he studied at the yeshivas of Mir and Slabodka. He taught at and eventually became Rosh Yeshiva of the Hildesheimer Rabbinical Seminary in Berlin. After the war, he lived in Montreux, Switzerland until his passing in 1966.

ר’ משה כותב בעניין בעל עקשן המסרב לתת גט לאשתו ועבר להתגורר בשוויץ. הוא כותב בחריפות שעל רבני שוויץ לעשות כל שביכולתם כדי לחייבו לתת גט כולל “וכן יראה שכל הרבנים ויראי השי”ת ירחקוהו במה שפשר להם …..לרדפו בכל מיני רדיפות שאפשר”. מזכיר פסק מהרב הרצוג, הרב הראשי לארץ ישראל.
ר’ משה פיינשטיין (תרנ”ה-תשמ”ו 1895-1986) נולד באוזדה שבבלארוס, שם כיהן אביו כיהן כרב. הוא נודע משחר ילדותו כתלמיד חכם מופלג והתמנה למשרתו הרבנית הראשונה בגיל 21. כעבור מספר שנים הוכתר לרבה של לובאן, ובעקבות רדיפה דתית גוברת ברוסיה הסובייטית היגר לארצות הברית. הוא שימש כראש ישיבה במתיבתא תפארת ירושלים, שם לימד מאות תלמידים חשובים. היה לו תפקיד מרכזי בהקמת הקהילה היהודית האורתודוקסית בארצות הברית, אך השפעתו המכרעת ניכרה הרבה מעבר לגבולות ארה”ב. מוכר כגדול הפוסקים בדורו והשיב לאלפי שאלות הלכתיות מכל רחבי העולם.
ר’ יחיאל יעקב וינברג (תרמ”ד-תשכ”ו, 1884-1966) היה רב נודע, פוסק וראש ישיבה. התפרסם ביותר בחיבור השו”ת “שרידי אש”. הוא נולד בפולין ולמד בישיבות מיר וסלבודקא. לימד ולבסוף נעשה ראש ישיבה בבית המדרש לרבנים הילדסהיימר בברלין. לאחר המלחמה התגורר במונטרה, שוויץ עד לפטירתו בשנת תשכ”ו 1966.
