R. Yaakov Yitzchok Ruderman (1901-1987), was a tremendous Talmid Chochom and founding Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Ner Yisroel of Baltimore. He studied under the “Alter” of Slabodka and R. Moshe Mordechai Epstein. In 1933, he moved to Baltimore, where he was offered a rabbinical post, which he accepted on condition that he be permitted to open a Yeshiva there, using the synagogue facilities. He led the Yeshiva for 54 years until his passing and under his leadership, it grew into one of the largest Yeshivos in America, producing thousands of distinguished alumni.

ר’ יעקב יצחק רודרמן (תרס”א – תשמ”ז, 1901-1987), היה תלמיד חכם עצום מייסד וראש הישיבה של ישיבת נר ישראל בבולטימור. למד תורה מפי ה”סבא” מסלבודקא ור’ משה מרדכי אפשטיין. בשנת תרצ”ג (1933), היגר לבולטימור שם הוצאה לו משרה רבנית. הרב הסכים לתפקיד בתנאי שיותר לו להקים ישיבה תוך שימוש באמצעי בית הכנסת. הוא עמד בראש הישיבה במשך 54 שנים עד לפטירתו, ותחת הנהגתו הפכה הישיבה לאחת הישיבות הגדולות ביותר באמריקה, אשר ממנה יצאו אלפי בוגרים מצוינים.
