R. Shimshon Aaron Polonsky (1876-1948), known as the Tepliker Rav was one greatest poskim of his era. He was descended from R. Pinchos of Koritz, R. Levi Yitzchok of Berdichev and R. Nochum of Chernobyl. At the young age of 20, he was appointed as Rov in Madvin, where he served for 5 years. In 1901, he was appointed as Rav in Teplik, where he served for 21 years and after which he is known. Upon the recommendation of R. Yosef Chaim Zonenfeld, he emigrated to Yerusholayim, settling in Beis Yisroel neighborhood, where he served as Rav until his passing. Many of the great poskim of the following generation were his students, including R. Dovid Jungreis, R. Shlomo Zalman Auerbach, R. Yosef Sholom Eliyashiv, R. Shmuel Wosner, R. Yisroel Yaakov Fischer, R. Ovadia Yosef and R. Henoch Padwa.

ספר ויוסף שאול, מאת ר’ יוסף שאול אלישר (תרכ”ז -תש”ח, 1867-1948), עם הקדשה בכתב יד מר’ שמשון אהרון פולונסקי לבנו ר’ חיים. בסוף הספר ישנו נספח עם חידושים מאת הרב מטעפליק.
ר’ שמשון אהרון פולונסקי, (תרל”ו – תש”ח, 1876-1948), המכונה הרב מטעפליק, היה מגדולי הפוסקים בדורו. מצאצאיהם של ר’ פנחס מקוריץ, ר’ לוי יצחק מברדיצ’ב ור’ נחום מצ’רנוביל. נתמנה לב במדווין בעודו בן עשרים בלבד, תפקיד בו שימש במשך 5 שנים. בשנת תרס”א (1901), מונה לרב בטפליק ונותר לשמש שם במשך עשרים ואחת שנים. מכאן שמו – הרב מטפליק. בהמלצת ר’ יוסף חיים זוננפלד, עלה ירושלים והתיישב בשכונת בית ישראל, שם שימש ברבנות עד פטירתו.
רבים מגדולי הפוסקים בדור הבא היו מתלמידיו, ביניהם ר’ דוד יונגרייז, ר’ שלמה זלמן אוירבאך, ר’ יוסף שלום אלישיב, ר’ שמואל וואזנר, ר’ ישראל יעקב פישר, ר’ עובדיה יוסף, ור’ חנוך פאדווא.
