Autograph letter presenting his renowned Sefer Chavatzeles HaSharon to Rav Ezra Munk of Berlin. R. Babad writes that he is pleased to send his newly released sefer which he hopes will be warmly received by Talmidei Chachomim. Sefer included in the lot.
R. Dovid Menachem Munish Babad (1865-1936), was a son of R. Yehoshua Heschel Babad, Rav of Strzyzow who was his primary Rebbe. He was a son in law of R. Yoel Moshe Segal Landau Rav of Yabrov. He succeeded his father as Rav of Strzyzow in 1892, and in 1894, after the death of his father-in-law, he was appointed Rav of Yabrov. In 1911 he was appointed as Rav in Tarnopol, after which he is known. He was one of the most renowned Gaonim and Poskim of his period and received Halachic queries from far and wide. Enormously respected, he led the Agudas HaRabbonim in Galicia and he was an ardent Chassid of the Tzadikim of Belz.

מכתב אוטוגרפי שצירף לספרו הנודע חבצלת השרון כשנתן אותו לר’ עזרא מונק מברלין. הרב באב”ד כותב כי הוא שמח לשלוח לו את ספרו החדש וכי הוא מקווה שיהא לשימוש תלמידי החכמים. הפריט כולל הספר.
ר’ דוד מנחם מאניש באב”ד (תרכ”ה-תרצ”ו, 1865-1936) היה בנו ותלמידו של ר’ יהושע העשיל באב”ד, רבה סטרזיזוב, וחתנו של ר’ יואל משה סגל לנדא, רבה של יברוב. בשנת תרנ”ב 1892 ירש את מקום אביו כרבה של סטרזיזוב, ובתרנ”ד 1894, עם פטירתו של חמיו- נתמנה למלא את מקומו כרבה של יברוב. בשנת תרע”א 1911, נתמנה לרב בטרנופול, שעל שמה הוא מפורסם. היה מגדולי הפוסקים והגאונים בתקופתו, והשיב לשאלות הלכתיות מכל רחבי תבל. היה מוערך ביותר, עמד בראשות אגודת הרבנים בגליציה, והיה חסיד מקורב לאדמו”רי בעלזא.
