Rare set of the Ha’Tvunah journals that were published by the Mirrer Yeshiva immediately following its arrival to New York, with a handwritten dedication by R. Aryeh Leib Bakst (signing with his initials), distinguished Mirrer talmid, contributor to the journal, and later Rosh Yeshiva in Detroit. With an important introduction by R. Aryeh Leib Malin and many Halachic and Agaddic essays by some of the great alumni and Talmidim of the Yeshiva as well as from R. Simcha Zissel of Kelm and the Mashgiach R. Yeruchum Levovitz. The contributors include: R. Yonah Karpilov of Minsk, (Yonas Ailem); R. Elya Chazan; R. Ephraim Mordechai Ginsburg; R. Zelig Epstein; R. Nochum Partzovitz; R. Shmuel Brudny, R. Simcha Shepps and many others.
One of the great miracles of the Holocaust was the well documented story of the escape of nearly the entire Mir Yeshiva as well as students of various other Yeshivas from Europe to Shanghai. Following the War, the Yeshiva made its way to America, with most of the Mirrer Talmidim eventually settling either in New York or Eretz Yisroel.

סדרה נדירה של ביטאוני “התבונה” שיצאו לאור על ידי ישיבת מיר מיד לאחר הגעתה לניו יורק, עם הקדשה נדירה בכתב ידו של ר’ אריה לייב באקשט (חתם בראשי תיבות), מבכירי תלמידי ישיבת מיר, שסייע בהוצאת העיתון, ולאחר מכן ראש ישיבה בדטרויט. עם הקדמה חשובה של ר’ אריה לייב מאלין ומאמרים רבים בהלכה ובאגדה מאת בכירי תלמידי הישיבה ובוגריה וכן מאת ר’ שמחה זיסל מקלם והמשגיח ר’ ירוחם ליבוביץ. בין הכותבים נמנים ר’ יונה קרפילוב ממינסק (“יונת אלם”), ר’ אליה חזן, ר’ אפרים מרדכי גינזבורג, ר’ זליג אפשטיין, ר’ נחום פרצוביץ’, ר’ שמואל ברודני, ר’ שמחה שעפס ורבים אחרים.
אחד הניסים הגדולים בשואה היה הבריחה המתועדת היטב של כמעט כל ישיבת מיר עם תלמידי ישיבות אחרות מאירופה לשנחאי. לאחר המלחמה עברה הישיבה לארצות הברית ורוב תלמידיה התיישבו לבסוף בניו יורק או בארץ ישראל.
