Moreinu Yaakov Rosenheim (1870-1965), was born in Frankfurt and was educated according to the ethos of R. Shamshon Refoel Hirsch, “Torah and Derech Eretz”. From a young age he dedicated himself to the needs of the local Jewish community in addition to his efforts on behalf of the “Yishuv” in Eretz Yisroel. He was closely associated with R. Yitzchok Isaac Ha’Levy, and together they were instrumental in the founding of the Agudas Yisroel. In 1923, at the first Knessiah Gedolah, he was appointed as the President of Agudas Yisroel (a position he retained for the rest of his life), and in 1929 at the second Knessiah Gedolah, he was awarded with the title “Moreinu”. In 1936, he escaped Nazi Germany and emigrated to England, where he resided until 1942 when he relocated to New York. In 1950 he moved to Eretz Yisroel. He devoted his entire life to the needs of the Jewish People and was held in tremendous esteem.

מורינו יעקב רווזנהיים (תר”ל- תשכ”ה, 1870-1965), נולד בפרנקפורט וחונך על פי דרכו של ר’ שמשון רפאל הירש, “תורה עם דרך ארץ”. כבר מגיל צעיר התמסר למען צרכי הקהילה היהודית המקומית, תוך שהוא גם משקיע מאמצים למען היישוב בארץ ישראל. היה בקשר אדוק עם ר’ יצחק אייזיק הלוי ויחד היוו תפקיד מרכזי בהקמת אגודת ישראל. בכנסיה הגדולה הראשונה בשנת תרפ”ג 1923, התמנה לנשיא אגודת ישראל (נשאר במשרה זו עד פטירתו), ובשנת תרפ”ט 1929, בכנסיה הגדולה השנייה, זכה לתואר מורינו. בשנת תרצ”ו 1936 נמלט מגרמניה הנאצית ועבר לאנגליה, בה התגורר עד שנת תש”ב 1942, שאז עבר לניו יורק. בשנת תש”י 1950 עלה לארץ ישראל. הקדיש את כל חייו למען צרכי עם ישראל והוחזק בהערצה עצומה.
