Large printed letter in Yiddish and Hebrew issued by the committee of “Shomrei Ha’Chomos”, in order to raise money for the local Bikur Cholim. Signed and stamped by various distinguished signatories including R. Shimon Deitsch.
R. Shimon Deitsch (1814-1878), was born in Rudnitz and was one of the most distinguished students of the Chasam Sofer. Known as an outstanding Talmid Chochom, from a young age he was devoted to help the fledging old Yishuv. In 1842 he emigrated to Eretz Yisroel settling in Yerusholayim, where he was one of the founders of Kollel Shomrei Ha’Chomos (Ungarisher Kollel).

מכתב גדול מודפס ביידיש ובלשון הקודש שהוציאה וועדת שומרי החומות, במטרה לגייס כספים לאגודת ביקור חולים האזורי. חתום ומוחתם ע”י אישים נכבדים שונים, ביניהם ר’ שמעון דייטש.
ר’ שמעון דייטש (תקע”ד – תרל”ח, 1814-1878), נולד ברודניץ והיה מתלמידיו הדגולים של החתם סופר. הוא נודע כתלמיד חכם עצום, וכבר מגיל צעיר התמסר כל כולו לעזרת הישוב הישן המתפתח. בשנת תר”ב (1842) עלה לארץ ישראל והתיישב בירושלים, שם היה ממייסדי כולל שומרי החומות (אונגרישער כולל).
