R. Meir Auerbach (1815-1878), was born in Poland and served as Rav of several prominent Jewish communities including Kalisch. He was known as the Imrei Binah after his acclaimed Sefer. In 1858, he immigrated to Eretz Yisroel, settling in Yerusholayim, where he filled a vital leadership role. He is also famous for introducing the custom in Yerusholayim which does not permit musical instruments, other than percussion, to be played at weddings.
R. Yitzchok Elchonon Spektor (1817-1896), was renowned for his Torah genius, diligence and righteousness. He was the supreme Torah authority of his generation and led Lithuanian and Russian Jewry for many years with understanding and wisdom. In 1864, he was appointed to the distinguished position as Rav of Kovno. His responsa and novella were printed in Be’er Yitzchok, Nachal Yitzchok and Ein Yitzchok.

ר’ מאיר אוירבך (תקע”ה-תרל”ח 1815-1878) נולד בפולין וכיהן כרב במספר קהילות יהודיות חשובות ביניהן קאליש. הוא כונה בשם אמרי בינה על שם ספרו המפורסם. בשנת תרי”ח (1858) הוא עלה לארץ ישראל והתיישב בירושלים, בה כיהן בהנהגה. הוא גם התפרסם בשל מנהג החתונות שייסד בירושלים, האוסר על כלי נגינה בחתונות מלבד כלי הקשה.
ר’ יצחק אלחנן ספקטור (תקע”ז-תרנ”ו, 1817-1896), היה מגדולי הרבנים בתקופתו. נודע בגאונותו בתורה, שקדנותו וצדקותו. גדול בדורו והנהיג את יהדות ליטא ורוסיה בחכמה ובתבונה במשך שנים ארוכות. כיהן ברבנות מאז תקצ”ז 1837 ובשנת תרכ”ד 1864 נתמנה לתפקיד הרב בקובנא. תשובותיו וחידושיו יצאו לאור בספרים באר יצחק, נחל יצחק ועין יצחק.
