Shortly before the Holocaust, Roman Vishniak (Raphael Abramowitz) traveled through Eastern Europe on a photography tour. The hundreds of images he captured, portray a glimpse of prewar Jewish life, of a world destroyed. In the words of the publisher the purpose of the book is “to present a camera’s eye reflection of Jewish life in a number of East European countries on the eve of the great catastrophe”.
